the bad old pre-feminism days

Is then the feminist movement about past injustices or do women IYO still face a high level of discrimination in the United States?

"Do you remember any of that?"

"bad old pre-feminism days"

I got a job at a mine in the high mountains once. I was broke, the pay was good. I was greatful for the opertunity, even though it was at 10,000 feet and year round. It was a huge operation owned by an international mining company. So, even though it was in cowboy country, the policies were sensitive to modern issues of equal opertunity. It was a 24 hour operation. A couple of hundred people were hired to get it going. A few women applied and were immediately hired. Three of them got the job of laborer, like me. We decided to car pool to the work site. After a few days of hard work, some guys approached me while I was having my sack lunch and warming myself by a fire. It seems, they told me, that some of those big ole boys they knew were upset about a couple of things. 1) They didn't want no mop headed boys coming up to their mine and 2)They wanted to take who ever was bringing those f*cking c*nts up the mountain, behind a tree and teach him a lesson. I'm thinking that was two strikes against me, so I asked if there was anything else they wanted to talk to me about. They said "no," that they just thought I'd be interested in that information. I started hating that job but stayed for another year, making a spectacle of myself, just to be obnoxious.

I can go on all day with war stories but I think that is dumb since it is not the reality of today, I am not the same person I was, and there are plenty of present day injustices more worthy of attention.

The bad-old days are gone, the new days are not gone or any better than the old ones. The good new girl has replaced or at least come up to speed with the good ole boy as a group who loves to run malicious power plays that injure innocent by-standers, oppress the weak, and victimize others when it serves the agenda; hence my "false martyrdom" comment.
