Jay, Lexar Media signed another deal this Smart Modular...

...a division of Solectron, for the Lexar Media controller technology.
I wonder if SmartModular was infringing, so it just signed up as a
licensee to avoid a legal battle. Perhaps. Who knows really?
Either way, to date Lexar Media has been considerably more aggressive
about defending its IP than SanDisk. I don't really know how big some of these
players are that Lexar is chasing. As Eli said, some of the card
assemblers are going to fall by the wayside due to the harsh conditions
at retail. I haven't seen SmartModular brand products for almost
two years, unless they are sold by another brand name or as a private
label. Perhaps their cards are sold abroad? They must have a miniscule
market share. In any case the Solectron connection cannot be overlooked.

Anybody here have any thoughts?
