re: SIM in HSCSD

In real life, and as a practical matter, do (will) "road warrriors" in Europe - now that HSCSD is rolled out, and some useful debvices available ...

Would a user with a smartphone like the Nokia 6210, 7110, and Nokia 9110 (now 9210), that might also lug a laptop, use a Nokia Card Phone 2.0 (or equivalent) and swap SIM from the phone into into the phone card to achieve higher data rates in the non transparent operating mode, rather than using the phone as modem?

Not sure I stated that clearly, but you probably get my drift.

Intellectually honest? I try to be as rigorous as possible in my thinking.

The HSCSD "cure" you suggest involving backwards de-evolution from GPRS is flawed because of the lack of error correction and cost. Not a mass-market tool, thus unlikely to make money. My opinion.
