"What is worthy of special mention is the transition of production base to China. At present, almost 40 percent of electronic equipment and related devices produced by Taiwanese makers is output from China. Yet, taking up PC peripherals, the ratio of products output from China gets higher. From their plants in China, they deliver peripherals, such as power supply, scanners, keyboards, the mice, CRT monitors and cases, at a ratio of 80 percent or more to all the output. Therefore, it is apparent that cost competitiveness of Taiwanese PC peripheral makers has been improved by combining their robust management, production control and customer base with abundant and cheap labor force in the continent of China."
