Les:

``They wanted to make their number so badly that one big customer got a 90 percent discount,'' said industry analyst Mark Shainman of the Meta Group in Reston, Va.

My understanding of the revenue recognition on software (I'm no expert but have a little knowledge) is IF ORCL did this the sale would have gone into the deferred revenue on the balance sheet account and not flowed to this quarters revenue on the income statement.

Discounts will be the name of the game with competition heating up.
