The best month for CDMA sales in over a year in Korea. If this is indicative of demand going into the second half, Q is going to have a pretty good year. Korea added 1.6m new subs during June.

SKT-Shinsegi's market share below 50%

SK Telecom and Shinsegi Telecomm have successfully reduced their combined market share to below 50 percent, meeting the Fair Trade Commission requirement for their merger.

The Ministry of Information and Communication announced yesterday the combined market share of SK Telecom and Shisegi Telecomm reached 49.75 percent as of June 30.

The ministry will officially notify the Fair Trade Commission of the market share. The two companies were ordered to drag their market share below 50 percent by the end of June or face fines.

Meanwhile, there were a total of 28,920,979 mobile service subscribers as of June 30. SK Telecom had 10,907,943 subscribers, or 38.86 percent, followed by KTF with 9,693,658 (34.47 percent), LG Telecom with 4,434,530 (15.78 percent) and Shinsegi with 3,056,857 (10.89 percent).
