Sadly, there may be truth to what you are saying.

*OT*
A fleeting power trip.
BroadBand
not going to make or break you.
My theory.

The internet is incredibly underestimated....the number of users...the number of email addresses....It's all based on a model that counts hits....(easily fabricated)...counts unique users (easily misinterpreted with Dynamic IP addresses) It's based on email addresses...(WRONG) i have about 15 of them?? (that i can remember)....Don't use the one's that don't work....

So in my opinion....the INTERNET...is not IN FACT,,,,as large or as busy as people say it is...It's not as saturated as people say it is...IT HAS a lot more room to grow...ALL THE NUMBERS are nice and kind of funny....THEY don't tell the real story...

THE fabricated metrix of the 1999 were just attempts to distort...I can put a REFRESH on my page...and get 2000 hits in a couple of minutes....I can put 30 UNIQUE users on a site...just by signing on for 30 days.... >WITH a dynamic IP address....(clean out your cookies).....THESE metrics are really screwed up...(I guess with a Very big network..A JPS net you could theoretically be thousands of Unique users (yourself)..If it's by IP. If it's by MAC address..you got another thing commin')

I KIND Of laugh whenever i hear YAHOO talking about number of Page views and unique users (or time spent camping out on a page with a browser open)...SAME thing with AOL....It's all distorted....(OVER ESTIMATED OVER BS'd)

I'm still number one internet fan...I just laugh at the metrics...SATURATION QUANTIFIER is *WAY* OFF...

get real, with the exception of JNPR which held on a little longer than the others, the cliff came in Sept 00, with no gain between march and then preceding the disaster.

not likely, most likely related to the fact co's like qwest and level 3 amongst others way over extended themselves with easy credit 3-4 yrs ago when they were the first to lay down fiber that people dont want now...level 3 has lit up only 10-20 % of their fiber currently...there is a huge glut of fiber in the ground and that is why the telecom sector is hurting...these co's layed down fiber in the countryside where nobody really wants or needs them...we need fiber ine the metro areas but this wont be done as its too expensive...when sprint, worldcom, att, level 3 qwest, and about 50 others do not need to expand for a market they over estimated bigtime, everyone down the chain like jnpr, avnx, nufo, newp, tlgd, a, cien, nt, csco will suffer like everyone else...jmo...cant see this sector recovering til next yr...but in the longrun, the winners will still come from this sector.
