Sunk Costs, xDSL, LMDS/MMDS,

Hi crossy,

1) Sunk Costs - The problem with viewing infrastructure costs as being sunk is that largely they have been financed with debt. Which isn't a sunk cost at all, but rather an ongoing burden that must be serviced.

2)LMDS/MMDS - While I know of many enthusiasts for the technology on the threads, I take more of the view that the wags do of Brazil. It is said that Brazil is the country of the future...... and it always will be. Substitute radios for Brazil and technology for country and you get the picture. You know, if it weren't for all those darn trees in suburbs, I'd tend to think there was some place for these LOS solutions.

xDSL - My hat's off to the Bellheads who were able to figure out a way to break the legs of ADSL and cleverly take away its "always on" inherent nature. To add the requirement to dial in and handshake is a masterstroke of Unclear-on-the-Concept thinking.

Best, Ray
