Tench, Re: Only AMDroids feel that applications should not be recompiled and optimized, since they know such efforts benefit Intel's processors more than AMD's.

Let's have a look at this -- heavily Intel optimized -- benchmark:

watch.impress.co.jp

Intel Application Launcher: Megnitrax v1.02

Athlon MP 1.2 GHz 172
Athlon 1.2 GHz 36
Pentium III 1.0 GHz 98
Pentium 4 1.7 GHz 143

Megnitrax is a SSE optimized rendering program. Why do you think Intel included this benchmark on every P4 review system so far? And why do you think the Athlon MP is 400% faster than the Athlon? And why does it win against a 1.7 GHz Pentium 4? I thought all future applications would show astonishing performance on P4? At least that's what Elmer told us all the time. But maybe Intel just distributes outdated benchmarks... I'm sure that with a newer version P4 will win again against Athlon MP.
