I pulled mine, refinished them and nailed them back up. As long as none of the nails go into studs they're not hard to pull. Remember to put something between the pry bar and the wall to protect the wall.

If you have thick carpet you may be able to shove the cord between the carpet and the base board and not have to remove the board.
