Guertsi,

Hope you feel better soon. And that the insanity subsides. <vbg>

Me? Judgemental? Not a chance.

I'm with you on the bike tour thing. Rode my first century on my mountain bike on Memorial Day holiday (May 28), cranked out a half century up to our local ski hill Mt. Bachelor, last Sunday. vulcan.wr.usgs.gov

I'm not much for spectating so I'll rely on you for my Tour de France updates. <gg>

I see a bit the "us vs. them" attitude in your writing, call it a tad populist.
Yupper, I'd go with "a tad". Here's something a bit more robust:
junction-city.com
Funny thing is, his website went from active to "under construction" last December. Maybe Jim knows something?
Here's a link to some audio presentations: webactive.com

Anyway, he was part of an organization in Austin a couple of years back that had a catchy title: "The Committee For a Little Less Corruption In Local Politics". I think they folded too.

Now as far as separating facts from beliefs, do you think it is true (as some archeologists are claiming today) that the Canaanites never were in Egypt in 1200 B.C. and the Exodus is a huge metaphorical myth in the Bible? Oh, never mind. <w>

All I know is that the winners re-write history. So we can believe whatever we want about reality, and it probably is true.

Get well soon, Ray :)

So he really said "I'm a wiener"? On corporate welfare - It is a bad idea. There is a lot less of it than most seem to imagine. Where do people get the idea that things wouldn't be the way they are today without the government? The airline industry had its' own infrastructure and would have built it out but the government intervened and took it over. Same with the interstate highway system. Before interstates there was an interstate from NY City to Chicago. Each state built its' own segment and - funny thing - they all aligned themselves without the feds being involved. If the feds hadn't intervened we would have an interstate system today. It just wouldn't go from Morgantown West Virginia to Erie PA because there are not enough people who whould pay tolls to make that run. That segment exists for political reasons - not because the public needs it. I could go on and on and usually do.
