I have a theory that the interstate highway system killed our inner cities by sucking the middle class out of the city centers and putting them in the suburbs. Decades of not building interstates has reversed that trend and the city centers are becoming vital again. The social cost of what happened - if I am right - was tremendous.

Basically, companies thrive by providing to people what they want at a price they will pay. What could be better for the public at large? Of course, there have to be some rules. I wish the fed would stop some of the manipulation in our stock markets rather than spend so much time regulating interest rates. In other words, a reallocation of resources.
