Zeev:

Windows vs. Office right? I've heard some of what you say but the mag reviews have been quite positive (from what I read anyway). I remember when win 98 came out and if you had a new (not old)version of Norton utility products it crashed your system (I have a new ACT2000 and it still crashes the system 20% of the time). In took Norton quite a few months to work out the bugs (this is what I mean by the upgrades, a lot of new software will be needed).

I just think we have a major holdoff on purchases now in the consumer space and this hits the back to school (hey maybe a benefit for apple) PC space (i remember reading dell overtook appl last year in this segment). So any processors / chips sold now sit in inventory for a while.

As for this not taking off down the road, well time will tell. In the last 4 or so years I've ended up doing 3 clean installs (ugh two blue screens of death, not pretty) but with win 98 I was able to just over install in 3 of 4 machines. It would not be pretty if I had to wait for a MSFT approval to obtain some key. I guess this shows their concern with pirate software and why they had INTC enter an ID # on pentiums (you don't thinnk INTC did this on their own do you <gg>, I am serious MSFT is the reason).
