ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 19 (Reuters) - Contract manufacturer Jabil Circuit Inc. (NYSE:JBL - news), which makes electronics for brand name companies, reported on Tuesday fiscal third-quarter earnings and sales that hit its own and analysts' lowered forecasts.

The St. Petersburg, Fla.-based firm said cash earnings, excluding acquisition integration and restructuring costs, fell to $32.3 million, or 16 cents per diluted share, from $38.7 million, or 21 cents per share, a year earlier.

Sales fell 14 percent from the prior quarter but rose 8.3 percent from a year ago to $1.05 billion in the latest period which ended in May.

Jabil had lowered its financial targets and announced job cuts due to economic weakness when it reported on the last quarter, forecasting on March 20 that it would earn 15-18 cents per share on revenue of $1 billion to $1.1 billion in the third quarter.

Wall Street analysts had expected the company to earn 13-18 cents per share, with an average forecast of 16 cents, on sales of $1.03 billion, according to a survey by First Call/Thomson Financial research firm.

The company said it expected fourth-quarter sales would be $950 million to $1.05 billion, and per share earnings 13-15 cents.

I know I am playing with fire buying anything in this current market. I just look at what IDTI has already accomplished over the last couple of years and I know they will outperform when the economy recovers.

Red Hat reported their first ever actual earnings!

Is it possible? A Linux company making money? This one could be a real star for the better part of the decade or remain a dud.
