Chaz,

<< What will be fun to watch will be what happens in Singapore over the next year or two. >>

Unfortunate. It is tough to break into a GSM stronghold, particularly one that is a very heavy roaming destination or departure point ... but even when it is not. Tough in Australia. Tough in Mexico where the competition has been AMPS. Spectral efficiency is valuable for carriers, but there have to be user benefits.

For that reason Unicom will be more fun to watch. Voice quality is NOT a CDMA advantage over GSM.

<< Will WCDMA also be frozen out? >>

Of course not.

<< Clearly the government can prevent current flavors of CDMA as the Europeans have >>

Or as the Korean government did GSM.
.
<< Habits within government bureaucracies (i.e. control, control, control) continue. >>

Minister Yang?

Best,

- Eric -
