And they might not. Remember the 0.15 process that never was? If AMD ran into a diminishing returns problem because capacitance started to dominate as they went below 0.18 micron...

I suspect that this is why AMD suddenly developed an interest in SOI. SOI was a late decision, otherwise they would not have gone and built extra space on top of the Dresden fab.
