james, first of all, i do know about optical access since i started the thread on it<ggg>...i too like optical access but there are limitations to free space optics...for one, the data rate is limited to 1 GPS, which is substantially lower than current rates of 10 GPS for underground systems...and people question whether their system is truly point to multi point like terabeam...also, there will always be issues with fog and etc with free space optics...secondly, i know about charlottes networks also...while their products are good, they do not have a track record and no sales that i know of(very young company)...they are way behind cisco and juniper...i still hold many shares of mrvc so i know of them too(unfortunately).
