Unfortunately for you, I posted the stats showing almost identical abortion rates between the countries where it was legal or illegal!! No what you did post was stats showing that the rate was almost identical between developed countries and non-developed countries. You also had one post where you mentioned a few specific countries with legal abortion and lower rates then a few other specific countries with illegal abortion but you did not post stats showing almost identical abortion rates between countries where abortion is illegal and where it is not. I went back and looked at every post that shows up in your profile page to make sure of this. You can pretend that I did not post this several times all you like: "In any given year, 34 abortions occur per 1,000 women in the developing world, and 39 are performed per 1,000 women in developed countries." Developing and devloped, not "legal" and "illegal". OH, Hell! I'll show you again. You probably didn't see it!!<ggg> I'll refrain from quoteing that whole repost, just note that I am rfering to the text right after the quote above ""Yet, while it may seem paradoxical, a country's abortion rate is not closely correlated with whether abortion is legal there." Is a claim not a statistic to back up the claim. Then the quote does just what you did in your own posts it compares countries in two disimilar regions latin american where abortion rates are high even though it is illegal and Western Europe with lower abortion rates and legal abortion. It does not even attempt to provide overall stats it just talks about those two regions. It mentions Eatern Europe but doesn't mention that it has even higher abortion rates then Latin America. It does explain the high abortion rate by saying there isn't or wasn't easy access to contraceptives, but it ignores any possible difference in acess to contraceptives between latin america and western europe. It also ignores the other differences between these regions and it doesn't mention Cuba or Vietnam both of which have very high abortion rates. (Vietnam is apparently the highest in the world with a rate of over double that of latin america) BTW, I THINK THOSE WEB SITES YOU ARE USING ARE TRASH. Do you rely on them for all of your thoughts on abortion/religion/etc.? I've never seen any of them before today, they where just the results of a quick google search. I can see why you think they are biased but I have no specific reason to think the info you posted is any more accurate then what is on those sites. I think the bias is more in the selection of what info they present and the spin they put on it. I suspect that I might find some of the sites you posted links to to be biased as well but I didn't look in to them deeply because it was not a very important concern for me. My main concern was the information itself, if the spin is biased that wouldn't prove to me that the info is innacurate so I didn't challange any of your sites. Tim
