If your carpet will yield 1/8 of an inch the phone cord will slide under the board. Take a flyswatter, you do have flies down there don't ya'll? If you can stick the handle end of the swatter under the board the damn cord will fit under there too.

Why are you making this so difficult? If you don't want a phone in that room, don't put one in there. Why don't you flip all the furniture and stuff to the opposite side of the room and then the phone jack will be by the bed.

Why do women get on this treadmill of trying to outthink their furnishings? Nail the damn door shut and you won't need a phone in there. arrggghhhh
