<meanwhile... over at the realjukebox polvie is
busy dumping in a roll of quarters. he selects
every van morrison song he can find on the machine
dedicating them one by one to his friends>

<A-16... "wild night"... dedicated to techguerilla
who may well be with lucinda williams right now if
he tracked her down in chicago at her performance in
chicago last night at the navy pier>

<B-6... "brown eyed girl"... to dealie for the eyes
obviously. i can still see them as she was making
those water bombs last summer in the pirate race,
popping up from below decks every few minutes to
seek out more targets to plunder... more booty to
capture>

<C-13... "here comes the night"... to scooter so he
can sing it to piscato at porch parties as a reminder
that it's three in the morning and the night will be
here soon>

<D-2... "gloria"... to red who is old enough to
remember this one in his late teens. he brought it
over on the boat with him from the old country
when he came to america. he never wuz much of a
speler but he never forgot how to spel gloria>

<E-8... "warm legs"... to leggie... from yer personal
trainer wannabe - or at least yer maid of honor>

<F-11... "full force gale"... to captain dalin rambler
who never does anything at less than 75 knots>

<G-12... "and it stoned me"... to wharfrat, of course,
who has enough flashback residuals to get stoned on
a jellyroll, a fishin' pole, or a great big gallon
jar of mountain stream water>

<D-14... "domino"... to mubbsy for the gasssssss he
got from the pizza from domino's ssssssssssssss>

<xlr-8s... "sweet thang"... to shester... "ethchews me
thweet thang, could i buy you a fith thamwich?"
-leon phelps a.k.a. ladies man>

<A-19... "whenever god shines his light"... to altair19
in honor of his dad and in honor of the father of us all>

<RR-sp... "queen of the slipstream"... to rosita.
wordball champ extraordinaire...

"there's a dream where the contents are visible
where the poetic champions compose
will you breathe not a word of this secrecy
will you still be my special rose?"
>

<B-17... "have i told you lately"... to kath because
i do love her. she misses most of my heartfelt words
because i write most of them here in cyberspace.
AND to clappy and clappyssidekick for having the
good sense to choose this song to play at their
wedding... and because they fill our hearts with
gladness, take away our sadness... ease our troubles,
that's what they do>

redbay.com

(requires realplayer, a faster computer and a better
dial-up connection than i have here at home to listen
to this {30kbs stereo} -- total playing time - 14 min.
9 sec. -- no longer than "desolation row" but more
uplifting <VBG>)

-polvie

Dealie, I HAVE that recording by Bertie Higgins
- it was on the boat. Its on the SUN JAMMER CD
right? I guess that's where I'd first heard the
song but couldn't remember.

Thanks for posting the lyrics. It's so romantic,
I love it.

rose
