7:56AM Goldman on Comm ICs : Goldman Sachs cuts estimates again on communication IC cos: AMCC, PMCS, VTSS, and CNXT; also says that another sequential revenue decline is likely in Q3, but says that June is looking a lot like March which means that this could be a buying opportunity from a trading perspective.

7:46AM Semi Equipment Pushouts : DB Alex. Brown concerned that fundamentals for semiconductor equipment stocks over the next few weeks may be lining up more negative than positive and believe group could trade sideways to down before the Semicon West show provides a likely catalyst the week of 7/16. Sees potential for further downward revisions to capex plans and more pre-announcements over the next few weeks. Investors with time horizon of 6 months or longer should focus on valuation; notes that TER still screening well.

7:13AM Micron Tech (MU) 38.02: ABN AMRO cutting estimates on DRAM chip maker to reflect deterioration in the PC/semi market through May; reduces Q3 est. to ($0.25) from ($0.06), FY01 to $0.18 from $0.49, and FY02 to $1.35 from $1.75.

7:02AM Earnings Warnings : Semi. equipment maker Teradyne (TER) sees Q2 loss of $0.05-$0.10 vs ($0.01) consensus... Contract manufacturer Jabil Circuit (JBL) sees Q4 net of $0.13-$0.15 vs $0.19 consensus... Telecom equipment maker Tellabs (TLAB) expects Q2 of $0.00 vs $0.29 consensus; sees several more challenging qtrs ahead.

Of the 199 semiconductor stocks listed for analysis at Silicon Investor 54 are oversold with relative strength approaching 20%. I think AIM would work great here.

It's that engineering training. They teach you to sleep in the oddest places and at the oddest times, especially when they have you chained to your desk as the project deadline approaches.

Interesting choices on TQNT and SAWS. Wireless seems to be the one sector that every one agrees is still growing though at a reduced pace. The strength of RFMD indicates that this is the preception for the handset set. On the infrastructure side the demand looks a little more subdued as inidcated by PWAV. I know from friends that work on the wireless side that there have been some push outs. Even Roth in the NT CC said they were being asked to do more in a shorter period of time in order to start generating cash sooner in Europe. They would not be spending the money if they didn't think they could generate better profits.
