Somewhat O.T. but a real eye opener.

ST trading:

NVLS hit 48 briefly today, but is closing strong. My limit sell order price wasn't quite reached. Very close, but I didn't get it. The market makers are trying to maintain a spread of 0.40 on those options. That's too much, but they wouldn't split the difference with me. I'm going to be irritated if we now bounce back to 56. Hopefully, tomorrow I get my price.

My trading would be simpler if I used the stock, rather than options. Certainly, the cost of trading would be lower. But I feel more comfortable holding a put, rather than shorting, as there is a defined max loss in puts. Maybe I should short the stock, set a stop-loss price when I initiate the position, and then rigidly stick to that discipline. Unfortunately, it's hard to maintain that discipline. Playing the long side, I'm now using stock instead of LEAP calls.
