Chispas, Actually, I would think that AAPL turning up may just be a sign of strength today...a look forward to the back to school period that we will be in a month or two.
Apple seems to have its own cycle.

Apple really has nothing to do directly with the Windows PC market.

Intel was getting bad comments from 2 analysts yesterday and today Dan Niles cuts estimates. Investors are looking beyond the valley even if analysts are not.

There is much more certainty to the PC upgrade cycle than there is for networkers or companies in the server or storage market.
It is just an indicator of how much influence Microsoft's product cycles can have.
Maybe more influential than broad economic conditions....that is what I would call monopoly power.<g>

This is the biggest launch since Windows95...and Windows95 was big! PCs will have to be replaced in many cases to run the new operating system.
