I have not monitored new PC sales lately. To me it is just speculation on what Windows XP will mean down the road for PC sales...and what that means for the stocks in the coming months ahead of the launch date. Looking at the discounting factor (in stock prices) instead of current sales.

There has to be upgrades by the bearish analysts; it is just a matter of time, imho. I would say near term--1 to 2 months. They won't wait for the 4 quarter to upgrade the stocks, imho.
The boxmakers and Intel are getting leaner; more efficient. The big ones are taking market share from the 2nd tier PC makers thanks to aggressive price cutting.
When the up cycle begins, the large players take in the big profits.

Energy stocks looking shaky. They are bouncing around; might be ready to take a dive soon. The regulatory developments in the past week may be the trigger that starts their decline. It just may be enough to make many mutual funds wanting to take profits and leave the new investors in the energy sector holding the stocks before the big drop. Sure there are possibilities for further gains but why take that chance --that may be the funds' perspective.

I am shorting many of these names. Don't know if I will hold the shorts for long or just play for a short term move.

I could be proved wrong but I believe it is a reasonable bet to play the downside on these.
