That statement should have referred to the FSB, not the internal speed. It makes no difference between a 500MHz PIII or a GHz PIII if they run at the same FSB speed. In fact the faster one should finish the test suite quicker and actually be cheaper to test but the difference would be very small. The article named the 2 main suppliers for Intel's logic line of products.
