LOL, so you're in favour of Quebec gaining independence then? I've got to admit, I - as with many - feel much the same about Scotland... if they want independence, let them have it and no skin off our nose (hey, it wasn't the English that wanted Union in the first place...). Then they could go back to those futile experiments in neo-socialism so beloved of the Celtic fringes, but wasting their own money rather than mine. Currently it seems a majority doesn't want that much independence. Strange, really. As for NI, BTW, I say cut them off regardless. They're a pointless, expensive drain on the rest of the nation, useless, unpleasant and unwanted, and I figure we've tolerated that for too long. We only went in in the first place to annoy the Pope and stop bog-hopping bandits (usually backed by France) from raiding Wales and Lancashire. Finally we send in the army to protect the Catholics (honestly. bizarre, isn't it) and of course both tribes turn on them.... why bother? Give anyone who wants one year, max, to come to Britain; then we pull out the army and all other British bodies. If no one's had the gumption to set up their own replacements, tough. They're on their own, and IMO never mind deportation, we shoot anyone trying to get to the British mainland pour discourager les autres. At last we could just sit back and let both sides fester in their own nasty little mire of hatred and incompetence; they're almost equally unpleasant, with the vile, sanctimonious murderers of the IRA near-balanced by the criminal, bigoted thugs of the UDA etc. I couldn't give a (*&^ who wipes who out, good luck to them: maybe we could dump some surplus arms from former Yugoslavia there to speed the process. And no matter who begs we don't want them back. </rant> <g>
