An hour later, more Disney news, and this one actually has some data.

Disney discounts Calif. Adventure park tix for locals

ANAHEIM, Calif., June 20 (Reuters) - Faced with lackluster attendance at its newest theme park, the Walt Disney Co. said on Wednesday it will offer steep discounts to lure more Southern Californians to the $1.4 billion attraction near Los Angeles.

Resort officials said the move is designed to boost visitor traffic to its California Adventure theme park, which opened amid fanfare in February but has since only managed to attract 9,000 to 12,000 guests a day, well below the 19,000 anticipated by Disney, according to analysts.

Who goes to Disney World during a recession? (Much less stay in their hotels, shop at their stores, etc)

Uh, me! Will be leaving as soon as I cover those LEAPS calls I shorted about a month ago. ;-)

A word of advice from an old trader. Never make a trade (long or short) because you are bored!

Covered Disney at 26.2 (shorted at 29.2). Got tired of "waiting" and decided to take the money. I don't think Disney is any better off, but just tired of watching it. :-)

Steve
