I think you did a pretty good job of summing up the two positions. However I don't feel the need to go quietly into the night. I noted how you once took part in anti-war demonstrations. Presumably, you did this out of a strong conviction that a great injustice was being foisted on both sides of the conflict. Lives were at stake and they were worth the trouble to let your voice be heard. How many lives were lost in the entire Viet Nam war? Surely it pales in comparison to the numbers that have died since R. v W.. The vast majority of abortions are done as a matter of convenience, and not due to extraordinary circumstances.

You are quite correct in noting the question of personhood is the central issue that divides the two sides. The problem as I see it, is that the definition of a person is arbitrary and fluid. We have a newly proposed law in Canada that says experimentation on human zygotes is ok as long as they are not done past 14 days. Why 14 days? Your guess is as good as mine. Germany on the other hand will not allow this type of experimentation, having already gone down that road only a generation ago.

From the moment of fertilization a new and genetically unique human being comes into existence. These are not potential humans but humans with great potential. The Nazis started with the weak the helpless and the Jews, many people with Downs syndrome were simply and quietly killed. They were a drag on the system and not worthy to be kept alive. Ideas have consequences, and the chickens are coming home to roost in your country and mine. Today a mother in Texas killed all her children by drowning them. Life seems cheaper since the legalization of abortion, and it's getting cheaper by the day. That is worth standing against in my opinion, and so I will not be silent.

HEY, HEY, P.P.A. HOW MANY KIDS HAVE YOU KILLED TODAY????
