Where are you heading in the Sierra? I'm taking my kid backpacking second week of July. Thinking about going to Thousand Island Lake and about- an incredibly magnificent area!

Seems like a slightly dry year. Probably some snow around at high altitude. Don't know Kennedy Meadows. If you're lucky, you'll get there when it's not too muddy and not too buggy. Not easy to hit that window, but I reckon you're gonna be close.

For my part, I'll be going up Mt. Star King in some fashion (I hear there're 5.9s there, hopefully of good quality) in August.
