Richard, why don't you and I buy some more gold coins with our tax rebate checks?

Maybe we should buy American Eagles...the treasury needs our money...

NEW T-BILLS WILL PAY TAX
REBATE

By JESSICA SOMMAR

June 21, 2001 -- Buy T-Bills - if you want your tax rebate.

The U.S. Treasury doesn't have enough pocket change to
cover the tax rebates approved by Congress, but it is making
plans to make sure the checks are in the mail.

Analysts have estimated that an additional $67 billion worth
of Treasury bills - of three, six or nine months duration - may
be offered before Sept. 30, according to Bloomberg News.

Treasury spokesperson Tony Fratto said that the amount of
T-Bills for sale won't be released until the Aug. 1 quarterly
refunding announcement.

"We are prepared to make any short-term adjustments to
meet changes and may be adjusting some of our bill
allotments," Fretto added.

Although the shortfalls are a regular seasonal occurrence, the
sluggish economy has dried up revenues across the country -
and that has meant less corporate tax revenue coming into
U.S. coffers.

Reportedly, corporate tax receipts due on June 15 have fallen
25 percent from last year's levels.
