>>``I'm actually prouder of my mistakes,'' Levin said. Among his prized failures were a news service along the lines of CNN which his board refused to approve, an electronic network to deliver news to computers and the group's first foray into interactive television in the 1990s which failed to take off.

``To me, it's trying things that don't necessarily succeed but you have a memory trace. Like today, I am absolutely driven to do interactive television because I remember in the failed experiment, the consumer response was tremendous,'' Levin said.

Have we missed this? On January 31, 2001 ACTV announced a strategic alliance with Aerocast, a broadband streaming media service backed by Motorola, Liberty Media and Soros. ACTV would create iTV programing and enhanced media content for the alliance. This includes HyperTV, eSchool and other products and services to deliver interactive web content, web based advertising, e-commerce, chat and other web based features.

Today Aerocast begins consumer VOD trials in three US locations AND one international city. The only named city is Seattle using Millenium Cable Company. Aerocast will deliver sports and entertainment content from BThereTV, Bikini.com, Omega Network, Players Network and INexTV. The service is expected to go commercial at the end of this year.

On a review of the various announcements it appears that ACTV is deploying most of its products and services into this alliance. We are now involved in two trials in five cities. What is most interesting is that HyperTV and other services are now going live via cable modem. We have the backing of our two partners Motorola and Liberty Media and it seems that Soros has also appeared in the mix.

I assume that the ABN Ambro report (just released) that discusses SpotOn may have led to the recent flurry in the stockprice. Todays news is extremely positive and should underpin a gradual recovery in the price of the stock as the "Where are the deals?" issue is being dealt with.

The Liberty spin off from AT&T will probably be a major plus for ACTV as Liberty fires up as an independent company. They are currently making a major cable purchase from Gemany's D.Telkom which is the second largest cable market in the world. Maybe this is where the Aerocast trial in an "international city" is located???

Frankly I am amazed that more people are not following/don't understand what is happening here.
