My Spam Story:

Mrs. Quahog does not spend a lot of time on the internet, but when we hooked on to our last ISP I dutifully set her up with an email account, and set up my own. Fortunately my chosen alias, Quahog, was available, so I set up an account that I intended to be my main, friends and family, type account. I have others that I use for registration purposes, and fully expect those addresses to be sold and used for spam.

Little did I know that one evening Mrs. Quahog came across a site that had links to hundreds of free giveaways. Being a neophyte, she gave out her email address.....along with the email addresses of her "friends that might be interested in receiving free merchandise," including me.

I learned about this a couple days later when my new main email address suddenly had about 30 spam messages. Now, a year later, she receives about 100 spams a day, and I get about 20. Most involve repairing bad credit, offers to extend credit, getting university diplomas, making $5,000 a week from my own home, seeing nude pictures of Anna Kornikova, and finding out personal information about my enemies on the internet. We have simply abandoned the addresses.

For the trouble, every week or so I get a free T-shirt in the mail.
