John re: much more linked to the demand tide of the marketplace than it is to competition that would be true for intel if it would realize that. Intel would concentrate on reduction in production and stabilizing prices which would help the bottom line That would be true for amd too if amd would make only desktop chips for retail (21% would be enough) but amd makes athlon 4 and mp as well and hence needs to gain laptop and commercial market share....
