Incidentally I saw Strauss interviewed (always referred to as "the beret-wearing chief executive officer of JDSU") and I have to say (IMHO) he is a not a good person to put in front of the camera. If you made a list of all the things you should not do for public presentation he would have every one of them. I can't understand why JDSU doesn't see that and either train him or put somebody else in that position. Well, they got rid of Abbe, so that's a start. I don't think Strauss should go --- I actually don't mind his quirks --- but if his public presence hurts the company, he should have someone else handle the press. The next few years will be interesting --- on many levels. And some day there'll be textbooks written describing what happened when the world moved from copper to glass. Articles like yesterday's WSJ report will serve as comic relief. Pat
