V1, thanks for the feedback. I have a position in AFFX which I'm not necessarily comfortable with but your comments are encouraging. I bought a starter position in CALP after hearing MLNM's favorable comments and am undecided on whether to add more.

FWIW, I believe there is a little market overlap between AFFX and CALP, but not much, as you note. In general, CALP addresses more applications, and very differently. They are both cheap, IMO, but I like CALP's prospects a little better. QGENF's, too, and they are likely to hold up better near term.

Your strategy of averaging in to AFFX is appropriate, IMO. They will indeed recover eventually.

PS: How about a short pick? You know anything about IPIC's current science/market chances? Because everything else makes it look very shortable:
