OT -- GLW
If I were you, I'd look at the Lucent fiber cable unit and compare that (as a business) to GLW. Then use its sale value to figure out how much GLW is worth. If you do go through the exercise, I'll be curious to know what you find.

RE: "Please let me know if you see it more clearly than I do."

Geez, I'm still trying to figure out Stanley T. Myers' (president and CEO of SEMI) BTB comment: "It is likely that the prospects for sustained year-over-year improvements in monthly shipments are three to four quarters away."

If we were to assume that Stanley is referring to the 3-month B2B average shipments number, then...

3 quarters from now (Feb-02), shipments will surpass the previous year's (Feb-01) shipments of $2279.3

or...

4 quarters from now (May-02), shipments will surpass the previous year's (May-01) shipments of $1515.2

So, if I'm not missing something here, either shipments will be flat 1 year from today or they will grow 50% in 9 months.

Thanks for narrowing that down Stanley.
