Symantec names John Schwarz to new COO post CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan 2 (Reuters) - Anti-virus software developer Symantec Corp (NasdaqNM:SYMC - news) said on Wednesday it had appointed a new president and chief operating officer, increasing the size of the executive team to manage the growing firm. John Schwarz, a former IBM executive and recently chief executive of digital rights management software firm Reciprocal, will take the title of president previously held by Chairman and Chief Executive John Thomson, as well as the new chief operating officer position. A Symantec spokeswoman said Schwarz would focus on internal issues, allowing Thomson to focus more on external ones and the company to deal with its growth. Analysts expect Symantec, which announced results of its fiscal second quarter in October, to raise revenue 7 percent to $1.01 billion this year.
