Mani - Here's a neat notebook from Fujitsu that - for some reaason - doesn't use an AMD chip.

Maybe you can pick one up with the profits on your AMD short sale !!!

New LifeBook(TM) C Series Allows Users to Enjoy Productivity,
Creativity in a Powerful, Stylish Desktop Replacement Design
Fujitsu PC Corporation (FPC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702), today unveiled the LifeBook(TM) C Series, the newest addition to its LifeBook notebook family.

This advanced notebook is one of the first Intel Pentium III-based machines with the new DVD/CD-RW combo drive at a sub-$2,000 price category.

A unique combination of multimedia functionality and business practicality, the LifeBook C Series meets the needs of a wide variety of users, including small to medium business professionals, first-time users and students.

The LifeBook C Series is the industry's first notebook to feature four universal serial bus (USB) ports standard adding to the overall multimedia appeal of the unit by quadrupling the total USB bandwidth available. This expanded number of ports allows for up to four USB devices, such as digital cameras, scanners, zip drives, printers and other USB enabled devices, to be connected simultaneously increasing the overall productivity of the notebook.

Additional multimedia innovations include a large and bright 14.1" XGA display featuring advance ATI(R) RAGE(TM) Mobility-P with an integrated 8MB video memory and Yamaha(R) audio for superior graphic and presentation functionality. FPC has also included an S-video out port and a direct speaker panel bringing the multimedia capabilities alive. For lightning fast digital video and data transfer, FPC has incorporated IEEE 1394 technology as part of the notebook's standard configuration.

Currently available in two recommended configurations with pricing starting at $1,499, users also have the option to customize their notebooks by utilizing FPC's Configure To Order (CTO) program.

All of FPC's LifeBook C Series feature a mobile Pentium(R) III processor with Intel(R) SpeedStep(TM) technology, and customers can choose a processor with speeds of 850MHz or 800MHz. FPC offers the choice of either Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Millennium, Windows 98SE, or Windows 2000 pre-installed. The notebook includes up to 256MB system memory, and a 30GB or 20GB hard drive.

It is an all-in-one, three-spindle platform for convenience and ease of use, providing the option of either a CD-ROM, DVD, CD-RW or DVD/CD-RW Combo drive. In addition to the variety of optical drives, the LifeBook C Series incorporates a built-in floppy disk drive and a nine-cell Lithium ion battery promising to deliver extended computing life.

For fast and flexible connectivity, it includes a built-in 56K(2) V.90 modem and Ethernet perfect for office networking or a broadband Internet connection.
