The problem I sense has not been with your ideas, but rather the unyielding manner in which you have been presenting them. G&K is an unmoderated (by choice) coalition of some pretty remarkable people, and the thing that has held this group of eggheads together is the willingness to share ideas and accept disagreement as a part of the dynamics of the evaluation process. One of the more interesting responses to your posts came from Jurgis Bekepuris, who I believe shares many of your beliefs. The fact that he is a value investor has not been a barrier to him becoming a welcomed participant in our discussions, and he was clearly trying to caution you to moderate your delivery. I've read each and every one of them, John, but have yet to find one that matches the smug, superior tone you have adopted on both this and the cc4d thread. >> I am merely suggesting to augment the pure G&K strategy with an asset allocation mechanism so that such traps can be identified, mitigated, and avoided. We have been seeking such valuation metrics for quite a while, and are quite open to suggestions, but I'd recommend you work on presenting your idea in a manner that doesn't alienate your target audience. >> ... innumerable PM from folks who lurk this thread and do not post for fear of being treated to what I have suffered. I don't think it is reasonable to expect us to shape the thread to satisfy a shadow audience, John. The fact that lurkers don't post isn't surprising, since they wouldn't be lurkers if they did. But the fact that they continue to lurk would seem to indicate that they find some value in our approach and discussions. >> Or allow you to duck from your responsibilities as a leader to lead The responsibility I have accepted is to attempt to ensure this forum's debates are conducted in an atmosphere of polite discourse and respect. That's the only reason I took on the unpleasant task of critiquing your earlier posts. >> And I plan to let this whole thing wash away and continue posting (for the benefit of those who are asking me to) and contributing my thoughts and adopting the thoughts of others and synthesizing new views. That's a healthy reaction, John. But I would request you begin participating in our discussions as opposed to lecturing. uf
