Thank you Josh. I hated to lose my Dad, but I love telling this story. I know you are a Marine, so I know you a lot about you even though we've never met.

Dad had a leather flight suit that hung on a hanger in the bin where I had to shovel coal to fill the hopper for our furnace. There was only one light bulb in the bin, which cast a ghostly shadow from that flightsuit. I was scared to death of that thing! How I wish I had it now.

Dad had little wooden models of battleships that were used by the Marines and Navy to train people in vessel identification. He pulled them out of the garbage at Cherry Point after the war because he thought they were important. They weren't detailed like plastic models, but would look like the profile of a ship in the fog. A few years before he died we went over to the Naval Reserve unit in Missoula and donated them. The officers accepted them and promised they would be treated with pride and respect. Someday I will see if they still exist.
