Tim, you know when Paul A and Irish started singing Simon and Garfunkel I knew right then that the discussion on this thread would somehow lead to the topics of stock market history.

Let me steer us a little into the future. In about 2 weeks, investors throughout the country will open their mid year mutual funds reports. They will be shocked to see the popular big funds like Magellan, Janus, Janus 20, Vanguard 500 ets have generated zero return in 2 years. Although dollar averaging is a great way to invest, at some point people will get tired of it and start looking for alternatives.

If investors pull out, the funds will be forced to liquidate stocks.

2 for 0 bp
13 for 25 bp
8 for 50 bp
0 for 75 bp
1 for 100 bp
