I, for one, do not believe there can be any enduring negotiated peace in that region. History has proven that. It is high time for Israel to take its destiny in its own hands and force a resolution of the situation -a pax israeli if you will..

Sharon is finally playing is cards right - hold back and take some hits from the Palestinians and try to rebuild world sympathy for Israel and get the Palestinians scared of losing their underdog status. I see a continuing equilibrium of this sort rather than any proper peace deal or a war.
