And they thought they owned the country the day Bush took office. So they went for it. They saw the opportunity, were urged along by the RNC hoping to punish California, and they gouged, gouged, gouged and tried to lay the blame on Clinton for "not having an energy policy". How many times did we hear that? Yet the whole time Clinton was in office we had not one black-out of gallon of gas over $1.50. But Bush takes office and we're in an energy panic along with a sudden recession. And Bush's cure for the economy? A tax cut. And his suggestion how we should use our tax savings? Pay for your energy bills. A-hole. No wonder the market's takning, and now energy stocks too. The Big Boys just decided to piss on the rest of us as soon as their boy got elected the new Sheriff in town. They went crazy robbing us blind. And they had Cheney talking about building 400 new power plants (except not in his backyard of course, probably in poor black and chicano neighborhoods only). As if we need 400 power plants unless we're wasting energy like fools. Maybe we need a few more but we've been doing fine without them. Cheney also said let's go ahead and drill along our coastlines and wilderness areas. Know what? 10% efficiency and we save enough not to do that. But Bush's boys oppose stricter efficiency. Always. I'll drive slower thank you. I'd rather not have oil spills in Central California and Florida and North Carolina. The fish and birds have enough problems surviving as it is. And didn't Exxon Valdez teach us anything? Accidents DO happen. Always they happen. Just a matter of time. Nuclear plants? Okay maybe a few but in whose backyard? You want one near you? Then go ahead and fight for it. All said, though there was some truth to it all by in large is was all ONE BIG ORCHESTRATED LIE and is still costing us every time we turn on a light or drive to the store. People know how to conserve though and they are. I don't know about you but I have cut my gas use by about 40%. Who needs to drive fast and cruise around aimlessly? And who needs lights on all the time and so much air-conditioning when there's fresh air outside? Well, all this is becoming apparent now. Bush/Cheney are in a corner trying to BS their way out now. Every other day now you have Bush trying to find an environmental stance to take and setting up a photo op. All an obvious attempt to keep moderates from bolting the party. Problem is no one believes it anymore. We know now what he really stood for all along, and that all he really cares about are his fat cat cronies and now not ending up a loser who was given the biggest job in the world as a gift by daddy's friends and then blew it. Big-time. This administration will go down the tubes faster than any in history. By 2002 they will be lame ducks, Cheney will have stepped down citing heart problems and Bush will replace him with some moderate East Coast Republican (if there are any left by then) desperately trying to hang onto the White House in 2004. Don't expect you Bush supporters to agree but just offering what it to me quite obvious stuff which really effects our lives, our earth, our country's prestige and respect and our pocketbooks.
