hi rick

re, "I get lost with procedures as complex as the ones you've outlined"

it's imperative that one not exceed one's comfort level... i guess. <g3>

but i keep thinking of that old line.... "in order to get to second base you have to take your foot off first"

the steps i outlined are really not complex. if you were motivated to try them, follow them one at a time. once you see what is involved, you'll be surprised just how simple they are.

but you know best, that's for sure.

good luck, rick

:)

re, "I had hoped that by deleting all traces of Communicator first and then downloading a clean copy, that I'd get the same result. Does that seem unduly simplistic or is there anything else about that technique that wouldn't accomplish the same result?"

that is a very valid question. i agree with your thinking that this action should result in a clean copy of communicator on your hdd. but i think the operative words here may be deleting all traces. perhaps that was not the case.

i don't know. i'm just in there winging the same as you.
