traderdan it is my understanding that a lot of the hard drive manufacturers have free copy utilities either included with their new drives and/or available on their web sites for easy download and use. offhand, i know that maxtor has this feature. in addition, software like powerquest's drive copy is available and quite good. powerquest.com powerquest also offers drive image that can do what you want. symantec's ghost is also mentioned a lot whenever this question is posed. your choices are numerous. hope this helps :) mark
