gdr, i understand. big contributors to govt want internet taxes. govt wants internet taxes. i'm surprised we've lasted this long w/o them.


The larger brick and mortar retailers are mixed. They really have to collect tax in every state unless they spin off their on-line efforts. Most really have not spun them off and are able to handle collecting the tax which means the complexity is not that bad. Actually, the advantage of a computer is it can calculate the tax based on zip codes. Let's just not tell those lobbying against internet commerce tax based on the complexity.

Taxing would be better for the large brick and mortar chains. The one with an e-commerce spin off are less efficiant since they would be violating tax laws if they shared the use of their DCs,actual stores and personnel.
