biz.yahoo.com

NEW YORK, June 26 (Reuters) - Power producer and trader Mirant Corp. (NYSE:MIR - news) said on Tuesday it is on target to meet its second-quarter and full-year earnings forecast despite recent rulings on energy prices by
the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Wall Street analysts expect the Atlanta-based company to earn between 40 cents and 52 cents a share in the second quarter, with an average estimate of 45 cents, according to tracking firm Thomson Financial/First Call.
First Call said analysts' estimates for the year range from $1.90 to $2 a share, with a mean of $1.93. Formerly Southern Energy Inc., Mirant was spun off from Southern Co. (NYSE:SO - news), the U.S. Southeast's biggest power company, on April 2.

Mirant has more than 20,000 megawatts of generation capacity.
