If you want to explain the ratios more at some point, with some historical context, that would be great.

I don't know about a washout day in the offing. That's what the complacency index I posted indicates, but that would make it too easy, I think. I find that the market defies most efforts to predict its direction. And as I pointed out, even when the index was high, there occasionally have been moves up.

Your comment on the simultaneous bullish/bearish signals shows how difficult it is right now. "Quagmired in the muck," to be sure. I see bearish signs in various indexes, and in individual charts I see what you see: simultaneous bullish/bearish signals.

Dennis mentioned one with a nice-looking daily chart: DELL. But if the market tanks, that could revisit its April low, I suppose. Right now, its P/E is at about 30.
