Gregor, I think you and I are interpreting the book, and the Prayer of Jabez differently. I am praying that God expands my "territory," meaning that He gives me a larger ministry for Him. He has opened the doors all over the U.S., not just locally. I also think the book talks of expanding your territory, for Him, in that way. When I ask God to bless me that is by allowing me to be used in His work. That is my blessing.

The people I have spoken to about that book took it the way I did. I interpret the prayer as asking God to use us to reach more people for Him, and the experience with the woman in the medical building was my example. Incidentally, the medical building had more than ten stories and many offices, and she was going to a different doctor than I was. For us to cross paths at the same time, was from God, because she went unhelped by everyone passed her by. I just happened to walk by her in the lobby. I would not have even been there at that time, but I had to get a random blood pressure re-check, which was competely unusual for me.

So, my objective here is to be available to be used by God, and finances are not the goal. If we put Him first, all the rest will follow. I am sure you share that priority. It is not prosperity teaching but more of an example in my Faith in Him. The second book, Secrets of the Vine is really good, as well.
