It depends on the price. Considering patent issues, which are more important now than they were in the 70s and 80s, acquiring the DEC patents could be a very good deal...depending on the price.

Intel already got the patents as part of DEC's previous trip to the cleaners. In addition, Intel already has manufacturing rights.
